providing acupuncture, functional medicine, herbal medicine and supplements, and dietary &
lifestyle counseling to patients in Marin County and the San Francisco Bay Area. Balance
Restored is located in Corte Madera and has an onsite practice at Mt. Tam Orthopedic and Spine
Center in Greenbrae, California.

Susan Fox, M.S., L.Ac, FABORM
Susan founded Balance Restored with the vision that practitioners of different modalities work together in support of patient care. She is a Fellow of and served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine; a member of the NorCal Group of Fertility Acupuncturists who specialize in reproductive healthcare; and a founding member of Dr. Randine Lewis’ Clinicians of The Fertile Soul, a collaborative that delves into the inextricable Spirit-Mind-Body component of fertility. Susan enjoys professional relationships with OB/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinologist medical doctors in Marin and the Bay Area, as well as naturopathic and chiropractic doctors, nutritionists, psychotherapists and massage therapists. She also works at Marin General Hospital’s Center for Integrative Health & Wellness. Susan earned her Masters Degree at Meiji College of Oriental Medicine in Berkeley, California.
Emily Smith, M.S., L.Ac.
Emily is one of the few Westerner`s to hold both American and Japanese Acupuncture Licenses. After living, working and studying in Japan for 22 years, Emily returned to the Bay Area in 2014 with a desire to support people with Post Traumatic Stress. The 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami highlighted the value of gentle acupuncture for alleviating many of the complaints experienced by disaster survivors. Emily treats chronic stress, trauma and pain, and uses the Egoscue Method of Postural alignment to help people retrain their posture to enjoy a pain free life. Emily is a member and contributor to the North American East Asian Journal of Oriental Medicine-a collaborative network of International practitioners actively translating their research and clinical experience between English and Japanese. She also translates and interprets for visiting Japanese acupuncturists. Emily earned her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, San Francisco. She completed her Japanese Licensure (Acupuncture, Anma, Shiatsu and Moxibustion) at the Kuretake Institute of Medical Therapeutics in Shinjuku, Tokyo. She has been in practice since 1993.
